Ministry of Commerce: The fundamental positive trend of China's foreign trade has not changed in the long term.
According to the Economic Observer App, on May 14th, the Ministry of Commerce held a regular press conference. The spokesperson, He Yongqian, introduced that based on the latest data released by the General Administration of Customs, the total value of China's goods trade imports and exports in the first four months of 2026 reached 16.23 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 14.9%, continuing the trend of good growth. Among them, the import and export of mechanical and electrical products increased by 19.5%, showing a high level of prosperity. The global AI trend deeply stimulates product demand, and integrated circuit trade achieves high-speed growth. China is a key supplier of global AI infrastructure and a major buyer and seller of integrated circuits globally. This is not only the result of the resonance between the global industrial cycle and market demand, but also a vivid manifestation of the continuous optimization of China's foreign trade structure and the steady improvement of its industrial innovation capabilities. Currently, the external environment is still complex and changeable, with factors such as global economic growth slowing down and geopolitical conflicts brewing may still have some impact on China's foreign trade. However, overall, the long-term positive fundamentals of China's foreign trade have not changed, and the basic strength remains solid.
