The number of bankruptcies among Japanese companies has increased year-on-year for five consecutive months.
According to Japanese sources, on May 13, the Tokyo Shoko Research company announced that the number of bankruptcies in Japan in April increased by 6.6% to 883 compared to the same period last year, marking the fifth consecutive month of year-on-year increase. The weakening of the yen led to a surge in prices of imported raw materials and energy, dragging down business operations. 85 companies went bankrupt due to the rise in prices. Analysts from the Tokyo Shoko Research company pointed out that if the chaotic situation in the Hormuz Strait continues for a long time, the business environment for Japanese companies will become even more challenging.
