In April, China's e-commerce logistics operations remained stable and showed signs of improvement, with a significant increase in consumer demand for seasonal travel and other goods.
The China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing announced the China e-commerce logistics index for April today. The data shows that the e-commerce logistics business volume maintained rapid growth in April, overall showing a stable and rising development trend. The China e-commerce logistics index for April was 110.6 points, up 0.3 points month-on-month. In April, the operation of express delivery companies remained stable, and several indicators on the supply side continued to improve. Among the sub-indices, the logistics efficiency index, fulfillment rate index, satisfaction rate index, personnel index, and capacity utilization rate index all showed signs of improvement. Liu Yuhang, director of the China Logistics Information Center, stated that in April, the China e-commerce logistics index showed significant improvement in multiple indicators on the supply side of logistics, indicating that the operating efficiency and service experience of the logistics industry are continuously improving. At the same time, the consumption demand in the e-commerce consumer market, especially in seasonal travel, showed obvious growth characteristics. Specifically, the demand for seasonal clothing, outdoor sports equipment, and other categories continued to grow steadily. Local seasonal agricultural products continued to sell well through the "livestreaming + direct delivery from the source" model. Items related to spring outings, such as travel bags, sun protection products, portable digital devices, and outdoor cooking utensils, remained active in searches and transactions. The "trade-in" policy for consumer goods continued to be strong, with upgraded products such as smart home appliances performing well in county-level markets. The national e-commerce logistics network maintained efficient operation. While ensuring the daily delivery needs, the e-commerce logistics industry actively promoted service optimization and facility upgrades. For the transportation and distribution of seasonal vegetables, many express delivery companies optimized packaging and transportation solutions, opened dedicated channels, and ensured the fresh delivery of products. In addition, the e-commerce logistics cost index slightly rebounded and rose slightly, ending the previous trend of continuous decline for ten months. Overall, with the further release of residents' travel and online shopping demand in the later period, it is expected that the e-commerce logistics index for May will maintain a stable and rising trend.
