Fast charging is an important support for the popularization of electric vehicles and is also seen as a hidden cost that damages battery life. Now, a research team from Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden and Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand has developed a fast charging strategy based on artificial intelligence, which can adjust the charging process in real time according to the health status of the battery. This can extend the battery life of electric vehicles by nearly 23% without increasing the charging time. The research results were published in the latest issue of the "IEEE Transactions on Transportation Electrification".
