Recently, the Huai River Commission and the Anhui Provincial Department of Water Resources jointly chaired the start-up acceptance meeting for the renovation project of the Fenghuangjing Pumping Station of the Yangtze River-Huaihe River Diversion Project. The renovation project of the Fenghuangjing Pumping Station successfully passed the start-up acceptance, marking the comprehensive conclusion of the phase acceptance work of the Yangtze River-Huaihe River Diversion Project. The Yangtze River-Huaihe River Diversion Project is a major strategic water resources allocation and comprehensive utilization project across river basins and provinces. It is a landmark project of the national 172 key water-saving and water supply projects, with a water supply scope involving 55 counties in 15 cities in Henan and Anhui provinces, covering a total area of 70,600 square kilometers, and a total length of water transmission lines of 723 kilometers. The project is scheduled to start water diversion and navigation in 2022, achieve "dual-line diversion" by 2025, alleviate the contradiction of water resources shortage in northern Anhui and eastern Henan, and provide solid guarantee for improving the water ecological environment of the river basin.
