Actual household consumption in Japan has continued to decline year-on-year for four consecutive months.
The survey results released by the Japanese Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications on the 12th showed that due to rising prices and delays in the Middle East conflict, Japan's actual household consumption expenditure has continued to decline year-on-year for the fourth consecutive month in March this year, and the willingness of Japanese households to "save money" has further increased. The data shows that in March, the average monthly consumption expenditure of households with two or more people in Japan decreased by 1.3% year-on-year, and the actual year-on-year decrease after excluding price factors was 2.9%. Actual household consumption has been declining year-on-year for the fourth consecutive month since December last year. The average consumption propensity reflecting household consumption willingness has dropped to 82.7%, a decrease of 7.2 percentage points year-on-year.
