From May 11th to May 13th, the first Short Drama Industry Conference was held in Changsha. Data released by the Douyin Group Short Drama Copyright Center at the conference revealed that the average daily consumption time of live-action short dramas has nearly tripled in the past year. Over 1100 live-action short dramas with a total online viewership exceeding 1 billion have been produced, expanding from 44 to 65 content categories. The consumption time of series dramas has increased from 6% to 15%. Hua Yuesheng, the person in charge of content cooperation at the Douyin Group Short Drama Copyright Center, stated that the platform will provide precise support in four key areas: firstly, increase the content sharing ratio for core categories of live-action dramas; secondly, establish a maximum incentive policy of up to 1.5 million yuan for top-rated dramas; thirdly, introduce a 20% incentive for sequels; and finally, set up a special fund of 2 billion yuan to support innovative and differentiated content in genres such as realism, suspense, and urban panoramas. "The guaranteed support budget for live-action short dramas in 2026 will exceed 1.5 billion yuan, an increase of approximately 60% from last year."
