Our country has taken the lead in developing and releasing 5 international natural gas standards.
The International Organization for Standardization recently officially released 5 international standards in the field of natural gas led by China. Through precise quantitative indicators, it will provide a "Chinese solution" for cost reduction, efficiency improvement, and security in the global energy market. In the field of shale gas development, the series of international standards led by China on "Shale Brittleness Index Determination and Calculation" target the pain points of difficult identification of high-quality reservoirs and high costs in hydraulic fracturing in shale gas development. For the first time, it has standardized the technical framework for compressibility evaluation at the international level. After applying this standard, the accuracy of identifying high-quality shale reservoirs is expected to increase by around 10%, which can support the success rate of exploration and development of a single well from the industry average of 65% to over 85%. The operating cost of a single shale gas well can be reduced by over 10%. In addition, the standard for "Slippery Water Performance Testing and Requirements" is the first international standard led by China in the field of shale gas. One of the key technologies in shale gas development is hydraulic fracturing, which is equivalent to using high pressure to squeeze out natural gas with liquid, and slippery water is the main working fluid for hydraulic fracturing. This standard systematically specifies the quality requirements and performance testing methods of slippery water, with a testing accuracy rate of over 90%, which will significantly reduce trade and arbitration disputes.
