Cocoa futures in New York surged more than 12%, as concerns about the El Nio weather pattern forced investors to cover their short positions.

On Monday, in the final trading session in New York, ICE raw sugar futures rose by 1.77%, ICE white sugar futures rose by 1.39%. ICE Arabica coffee futures rose 1.83%, "C" coffee futures rose by 2.37%. Robusta coffee futures rose by 2.69%. New York cocoa futures rose by 12.34% to $4698 per ton. London cocoa futures rose by 10.66%. Chicago WCE canola futures fell by 1.31%. ICE cotton futures rose by 4.08%.
