On May 11, Haikou Customs released statistics. From the implementation of the new policy of duty-free shopping on outlying islands in Hainan in November 2025 to April 30, 2026, the customs supervised a total duty-free shopping amount of 22.22 billion yuan, with 2.973 million shopping numbers, and 17.45 million shopping items, representing an increase of 22.6%, 9.4%, and 5.5% respectively compared to the previous year. "After the implementation of the new policy, we are focusing on upgrading intelligent supervision," said a person in charge of the supervision department of Haikou Customs. "We implement one-code management for in-store sales, on-site delivery, and island clearance, making full use of big data models to dynamically monitor consumer trends, predict peak traffic in advance, and intelligently deploy supervision forces." Next, Haikou Customs will increase support for expanding the variety of duty-free goods, deepen intelligent supervision, strengthen positive supervision and enterprise services, and promote the continuous release of policy dividends to benefit a wide range of passengers under the new policy of duty-free shopping on outlying islands.
