Li Qiang meets with a delegation of US senators.
On the afternoon of May 7th, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang met with a delegation of US Congress Senator Daines visiting China at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. Li pointed out that practice has repeatedly proven that adhering to mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation is the correct way for China and the US, two major countries, to get along. He hopes that the US and China will move towards each other, engage in more dialogue rather than confrontation, engage in more mutually beneficial cooperation rather than zero-sum games, and uphold stable and predictable economic and trade relations, which is in the fundamental interests of both countries. The Taiwan issue concerns China's core interests and is the first in a non-negotiable red line in US-China relations. He hopes that the US Congress will handle issues related to China carefully and from the perspective of promoting friendly cooperation between the US and China, playing a positive role in the stable, healthy, and sustainable development of US-China relations.
