Wang Yi met with Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi.
On May 6th, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Minister of Foreign Affairs, held talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi in Beijing. Araghchi briefed on the latest developments in the Iran-US negotiations and Iran's next steps, stating that it has been proven that political crises cannot be solved through military means. Iran will resolutely defend national sovereignty and dignity, while continuously seeking consensus and pursuing a comprehensive and permanent solution through peaceful negotiations.
It is important to promptly resolve the issue of opening the Strait of Hormuz. Iran highly appreciates and agrees with President Xi Jinping's four-point proposal on maintaining and promoting regional peace and stability, acknowledging that China has always stood on the right side of history and made unremitting efforts to prevent the situation from deteriorating and spilling over. Iran trusts China and looks forward to China's continued positive role in promoting peace and stopping war, as well as supporting the establishment of a new post-war regional architecture that can coordinate development and security.
