"May" holiday is about to enter the peak return travel period. The Traffic Management Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security has issued a reminder.
On the third day of the May Day holiday, the overall traffic on the national trunk roads is smooth and orderly. However, traffic flow is more concentrated in some scenic spots and urban areas, leading to queues and slow traffic. The public security traffic management departments across the country are strengthening traffic control on key road sections, optimizing traffic organization at important intersections, cracking down on traffic violations, issuing traffic safety warnings, and ensuring smooth and safe road traffic.
It is expected that tomorrow, various regions will gradually enter the peak of the holiday return journey, with high traffic volumes on highways and main roads. Some areas are currently experiencing a busy farming season, with concentrated agricultural and work-related travel. According to the forecast from the China Meteorological Administration, in the latter half of the May Day holiday, there will be moderate to heavy rain, and locally heavy rain, in parts of South China, Southwest China, and the southern region.
The Traffic Management Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security reminds travelers returning from the holiday to closely monitor road conditions and weather forecasts, plan their trips in advance, schedule travel time and routes properly, drive safely and responsibly, avoid speeding, overloading, and driving while fatigued. When driving through mountainous areas, near water, cliffs, sharp bends, and steep slopes, drivers should stay focused, drive cautiously, slow down, and avoid reckless overtaking, driving in the opposite lane, and crossing solid yellow lines to overtake. In case of heavy rain or severe weather conditions, drivers should control their speed, maintain safe distances between vehicles, and follow the "slow down, keep distance, use hazard lights" principle to prevent sudden acceleration, emergency braking, and sudden lane changes. In rural areas where agricultural work is in progress, travelers should ride in authorized vehicles, not in non-public transportation vehicles or overloaded vehicles. Drivers responsible for transporting agricultural workers in the morning and evening should balance work and rest, avoid fatigued driving and speeding.
