The Hai River Yangtze River Tunnel Project has reached its deepest point.
On May 3rd, with the completion of the excavation task by the "Jianghai" tunnel boring machine at a depth of 75 meters underwater in the waters of the Yangtze River estuary, the HaiTai Yangtze River tunnel reached its deepest point, known as the new "first tunnel of the Yangtze River for ten thousand miles". This is currently the deepest record of domestic 16.6-meter large-diameter tunnel boring machines for underwater tunnel excavation, marking a key breakthrough in China's underwater tunnel construction technology under conditions of super large diameter, super high water pressure, and super large burial depth. The HaiTai Yangtze River tunnel project starts from Nantong Haimen District in the north and goes to Taicang City in Suzhou in the south, with a total length of 39.07 kilometers, including a 11.185-kilometer long tunnel under the river, designed according to the standards of a six-lane two-way highway with a design speed of 100 kilometers per hour.
