The UK government plans to allow airlines to merge flights to cope with soaring oil prices.

On May 3rd, the British government issued a statement announcing plans to temporarily allow airlines to consolidate passengers onto fewer flights during the summer holidays. This is aimed at preventing flights from being cancelled at short notice due to the uncertainty of the Iran war driving up aviation fuel prices. The British government also added that this plan will allow airlines to return some landing slots without losing corresponding slots for the next aviation season.
