"After the May Day holiday, a thousand researchers will be collectively stationed at the Tianfu Fusion Technology Research and Development Center." This was learned by reporters at the Fusion Science and Technology Innovation City located in the Tianfu New Area of Sichuan. Zhang Long, the director of the Fusion Technology Research Institute of the Southwest Institute of Nuclear Physics, stated that the center has already begun conducting key experiments including continuous thermal load assessment of the first wall components of the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor and helium cooling loop experiments, moving towards conducting "burning experiments" and construction of the target fusion engineering experimental reactor. It is understood that the Fusion Science and Technology Innovation City has established an industrial innovation consortium, with the first batch of member units including 18 core units such as research institutes, universities, upstream and downstream enterprises, forming an innovative source and industry development ecosystem covering the entire technical route of magnetic confinement and inertial confinement fusion.
