Talking about this emerging technology, Abel said, "There is no doubt that this technology can also be applied to other business sectors under our umbrella in the future. We will develop the necessary technological solutions in-house and provide complementary services to customers. This is a huge challenge and cannot be achieved overnight." The executive revealed that the company has specially hired engineers and developers to create relevant intelligent solutions. The BNSF Railway Chief Technology Officer is also actively promoting the digital transformation of the business. In recent years, this freight railway company has been struggling due to declining freight volume and operational pressure. To address financial difficulties, BNSF has conducted multiple rounds of layoffs between 2024 and 2025.
