In order to regulate the development of the industry and ensure the health and safety of consumers, the National Standards Commission recently approved the release of the mandatory national standard "Safety Technical Requirements for Jewelry". It will be officially implemented on April 1, 2027, comprehensively enhancing the safety standard system for jewelry in China. In addition to the existing relevant standards, the new national standard has added mechanical and physical safety requirements, such as smooth edges and corners, no burrs, no sharp points, no scratching for adult jewelry. The new national standard has clear provisions on key indicators such as small parts, sharp edges, sharp tips, dangerous magnets, escape performance of chain ropes, button batteries according to different age groups, in order to prevent children from choking, scratching, and neck-strangling risks caused by biting, pulling, tangling, etc. The new national standard explicitly states that there should be no functional sharp edges and functional sharp tips on children's jewelry and detachable parts worn or made for children under 36 months.
