The May Day holiday has begun, and Shanghai's major ports are welcoming a surge in both tourist travel and economic and trade exchanges. Passenger traffic at airports is climbing, inbound tourism by cruise ships is continuing to grow, and on the first day of the implementation of the new zero-tariff policy between China and Africa, cargo ships are smoothly clearing customs, creating a lively and open atmosphere at Shanghai's ports.
On May 1st, the two major international airport ports of Pudong and Hongqiao in Shanghai saw a peak in inbound and outbound passenger traffic. According to data from the Shanghai Immigration Inspection, on that day, the immigration authorities at the airport ports inspected a total of 113,000 inbound and outbound passengers, with 61,000 departing passengers. Inbound tourism by foreign tourists on cruise ships has also become a new "hotspot".
On May 1st, the Ocean Spectrum cruise ship carrying over 5,000 passengers docked at the Shanghai Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal, with foreign tourists accounting for 45.5%. The port also had a successful start with the implementation of the zero-tariff policy between China and Africa. On May 1st, the first day of the full implementation of the zero-tariff policy for 53 African countries with diplomatic relations with China, the Fifth Phase of the Waigaoqiao Port in Shanghai welcomed the Singaporean container ship "Shuncheng" to enjoy the benefits of the new policy. After the ship smoothly docked, 24 containers filled with African goods, including machinery, coffee products, rubber, and daily necessities, successfully entered the country.
