The South Korean government said on April 30th that due to a lack of specific guidelines on body search, as well as inadequate on-site supervision, some of the remains of the victims of the Jin Air plane crash in 2024 have still not been properly arranged more than a year later. As a result, several officials have been disciplined. Kang Young-soo, the chief of the State Affairs Planning Advisory Office, said at a press conference that due to a lack of specific guidance in the search for the plane crash and the handling of the remains, and inadequate command and supervision by the fire department and police, the aviation and railroad accidents investigation committee investigating the air crash failed to fully collect the remains of the victims. Instead, they mixed some remains with the wreckage of the plane in an uncovered area, and failed to respond promptly to the families of the victims' requests for a reinvestigation, violating relevant regulations. As a result, disciplinary actions have been taken against 12 individuals involved.
