Tianjin optimizes real estate supply to promote housing consumption.
The Tianjin Municipal Government has issued a notice on optimizing the supply of real estate in the city to promote housing consumption. It mentions using special bond funds to reclaim and repurchase idle land stocks. It supports enterprises in continuously developing real estate projects through reasonable optimization of design requirements and other methods. Operating entities that purchase existing commercial properties for rental housing can enjoy tax incentives related to housing leasing if they meet the conditions. Those recognized for converting existing commercial properties into rental housing units will not have to change the land use nature within the original land use term, will not have to make up land prices, and will enjoy preferential policies on water, electricity, gas, and heating prices in accordance with relevant national and local regulations. Implementing the national tax policies supporting residents in purchasing new homes, from January 1, 2026 to December 31, 2027, taxpayers who sell their own residential property within Tianjin and purchase a new home within one year of selling their current home in the city are entitled to a tax refund on the individual income tax already paid on the sale of the current home.
