On April 30, spokesperson Lin Jian of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs presided over a regular press conference. A journalist from Agence France-Presse asked, "Last Saturday, Myanmar's new President Min Aung Hlaing met with Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs. Did the two sides discuss Aung San Suu Kyi?" Lin Jian replied, "We have already released a statement. Aung San Suu Kyi is an old friend of China, and we have always been concerned about her situation. As a friendly neighbor, China supports Myanmar in following a development path that suits its national conditions, and supports all parties in Myanmar in achieving a more extensive, solid, and enduring peace and reconciliation."
