The Chinese Embassy in Mali once again reminds Chinese companies and citizens in Mali to strengthen security precautions and evacuate from dangerous areas.
Recently, the security situation in Mali is very serious, with multiple terrorist attacks occurring in various areas and an increase in kidnappings targeting foreigners in Mali. Curfews have been implemented in several regions including the capital, Bamako. In light of the situation, the Chinese Embassy in Mali once again reminds Chinese enterprises and citizens in Mali to closely monitor the local situation, enhance security measures, strictly abide by local laws and regulations, remain vigilant when going out, keep in touch with family, friends, and colleagues, and promptly avoid risky situations. Chinese enterprises and citizens in Kenieba, Narena, Yanfolila, Kongoba, Furu and border areas between Mali, Guinea, and Ivory Coast will face extremely high personal safety risks and are advised to evacuate immediately from dangerous locations, and avoid complacency and wishful thinking. All Chinese enterprises and citizens in Mali should operate legally and in compliance with regulations, illegal mining is prohibited as the Malian government cannot provide security protection for illegal operators and will crackdown on those who violate Malian laws and regulations. Chinese enterprises who have not reported their information to the embassy should do so immediately for timely consular protection and assistance in case of emergencies. Chinese enterprises and individuals who choose to travel to or stay in high-risk areas will bear all the consequences of their decisions.
