On April 29th, local time, Amir Barham, the Director General of the Israeli Ministry of Defense, stated at a meeting with the heads of the country's main defense companies that Israel is in a "long-term state of emergency" and must accelerate weapon production to achieve greater self-sufficiency. On that day, many heads of Israeli major defense companies, including Israel Aerospace Industries, Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, and Elbit Systems, attended the meeting to evaluate the enhancement of procurement capabilities and preparedness for potential war scenarios. Barham urged the companies to further increase weapon production, citing instructions from Defense Minister Katz to strengthen the current state of readiness and advance Israel's "long-term production independence." Barham also stated that the Ministry of Defense is working to reduce the unpaid debts of defense companies, which stem from the insufficient budget of the country's Ministry of Finance.
