EU: Metaverse platforms have not effectively prevented minors from using their services.

The European Commission announced on the 29th that it had preliminarily determined that the American company Meta Universe violated the EU's Digital Services Act because its social media photo wall and Facebook platform failed to effectively identify, assess, and reduce the risks of children under the age of 13 using its services. The announcement stated that although Meta Universe stipulates in its own terms of service that users must be at least 13 years old to safely use the photo wall and Facebook, the age restriction measures taken by the company do not seem to have been effective. These measures cannot fully prevent children under the age of 13 from using their services, nor can they timely identify and remove their access after minors have already gained permission.
