National procuratorates launch public interest litigation supervision activities on drug safety: Disorder in the use of drugs and medical devices in the medical beauty field needs to be regulated.
In recent years, the medical beauty industry has developed rapidly. Some illegal medical beauty institutions and life beauty institutions are driven by high profits, leading to situations such as practicing medicine without a license, practicing beyond their scope, using medical devices illegally, and false advertising. The safety risks of using botulinum toxin injections, such as "thin face needles" and "wrinkle removing needles," are becoming increasingly apparent. The procuratorial organs carry out targeted supervision, promote industry standardization through consultations, procuratorial suggestions, and litigation, and safeguard public interests. For example, in certain areas, some medical beauty institutions have unknown sources of botulinum toxin, and their use and operation of botulinum toxin are not standardized, leading to harm to public interests. After the procuratorial organs lawfully investigate and initiate a case, they consult with relevant administrative authorities to urge them to fulfill their regulatory responsibilities in accordance with the law and ensure the health and medication safety of the people. Similarly, in some areas, many life beauty institutions illegally provide services such as hair transplant procedures and ear piercing operations, involving thousands of consumers. The procuratorial organs lawfully issue procuratorial suggestions to relevant administrative departments to urge them to fully perform their duties. However, public interests have not been effectively protected, prompting the procuratorial organs to initiate administrative public interest litigation in accordance with the law.
