Mexico captures "standby" drug lord, security situation in focus on the eve of the World Cup.
Mexican authorities announced on the 27th that they had captured two main leaders of a drug trafficking group, one of whom may become the new leader of the "Jalisco New Generation" drug trafficking group. The former leader of the group, Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, was killed by the military in a drug raid in February of this year. Mexico's Secretary of Public Security, Omar Garcia Arfuchi, confirmed on social media that the Naval Special Forces had captured Adias Flores Silva in the state of Nayarit. This individual was Oseguera's right-hand man and is seen as his potential successor.
