HSBC: Bank of England may vote 8-1 to keep interest rates unchanged.
Morgan Stanley strategists Brunna Scarica and Fabio Bassanin said in a report that the Monetary Policy Committee of the Bank of England is likely to vote by a majority of eight to one to keep interest rates unchanged in Thursday's rate decision. They pointed out that the Bank of England is expected to provide policy guidance on the possible direction of future rate decisions. The strategists said that the Bank of England is facing a dilemma due to high energy costs and rising inflation risks: whether the potential rate hikes that may be taken to control inflation are worth the estimated economic growth losses.
