The 38th session of the Asia-Pacific Regional Conference of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations was held in the capital of Brunei Darussalam, Bandar Seri Begawan, from April 20th to 24th. Zhang Zhili, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, attended the conference and delivered a speech. Zhang Zhili pointed out that the Chinese government has always regarded ensuring national food security as a top priority in governance, enacting the "Food Security Law", clarifying the national food security strategy, adhering to storing grain in the ground and with technology, improving food production, reserves, circulation, and processing capabilities, ensuring basic self-sufficiency in grains and absolute food security. By 2025, China's grain production will once again achieve a bumper harvest, stabilizing at over 700 million tons for two consecutive years, with the production of pork, beef, lamb, and poultry exceeding 100 million tons, and an adequate supply of eggs, dairy products, fruits, vegetables, tea, and aquatic products, with an overall pass rate of 98% in the national monitoring of agricultural product quality and safety. Zhang Zhili called for strengthening technological support, enhancing the resilience of agricultural and food systems, facilitating trade channels, strengthening economic and trade cooperation in the agricultural sector, promoting regional cooperation, improving comprehensive agricultural production capacity, and jointly promoting food security in the Asia-Pacific region and globally.
