According to Israeli media reports on the 27th, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has once again postponed attending a corruption case hearing, and the scheduled hearing for that day was canceled. According to the Jerusalem Post, Netanyahu's lawyer requested the cancellation of the hearing just an hour and a half before it was scheduled to start, citing "security concerns" to the judge. The Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation confirmed that the hearing had been canceled. In early 2020, Israel's prosecution formally charged Netanyahu with bribery, fraud, and breach of trust. In May of the same year, the court began hearing the case for the first time, making Netanyahu the first sitting prime minister of Israel to undergo judicial proceedings. On December 10, 2024, Netanyahu testified for the first time in court in the corruption case. According to Israeli media reports, if convicted of bribery, Netanyahu could face a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison; the maximum sentence for fraud and breach of trust charges is 3 years in prison. Since the trial began, Netanyahu has repeatedly requested the cancellation or postponement of hearings citing reasons such as war, foreign visits, and health issues.
