The CEO of European satellite operator Eutelsat has stated that despite SpaceX's request to US regulators to restrict the access of European competitors, the demand for alternative satellite services from US companies and the Pentagon remains strong. In a letter to the Federal Communications Commission on April 16th, SpaceX, owned by Elon Musk, urged the FCC to limit the entry of foreign satellite operators who are being obstructed or discriminated against by governments from entering the US market. SpaceX used the example of SES, headquartered in Luxembourg, as a European operator benefiting from access to the US market - although the company did not mention other European operators like Eutelsat. SpaceX also urged US telecom regulators to take retaliatory measures against measures such as the EU Space Law and the Digital Network Law, stating that these proposals would erect barriers for US companies in the European market. "Obviously, we are aware of the new geopolitical environment... it is not surprising that US companies are lobbying for reduced regulations," said the CEO of European satellite communications company in an interview. "European space law is evolving in the right direction. We hope to protect space, and we hope to carefully ensure space security. We all know that the future of the space sector will require more coordination," he added.
