According to the Financial Times citing sources from the defense industry group, the related defense group has warned that the UK's stealth fighter project is facing a final deadline of 10 weeks and needs to obtain new government funding before then, otherwise the team may face dissolution. The report cited industry executives as saying that there are already over 4,000 employees (belonging to BAE Systems, Rolls-Royce, Leonardo UK, and other companies) in the UK working on the project, while also developing a test aircraft for a wider "global combat aviation program" to test a series of technologies. This supersonic test aircraft, which is a separate project for the UK, will be the country's first of its kind since the verification aircraft for the "Typhoon fighter" was built about 40 years ago.
