An explosion attack in the western Colombian province of Cauca has left 19 people dead.
On the 26th local time, the office of the governor of the department of Cauca in western Colombia announced that a bus attack on the Pan-American Highway the previous day had resulted in at least 19 civilian deaths and 48 injuries, including 5 minors. This is the deadliest terrorist attack in Colombia in ten years. Cauca province declared a three-day mourning period. Colombian President Ivan Duque accused the attack as a massacre against civilians. Defense Minister Pedro Sanchez announced that an investigation revealed that the attack was carried out by the anti-government armed group known as "Ivan Modisco," and offered a reward of 200 million pesos for the capture of the perpetrators. On the afternoon of the 25th, a bus traveling on the Pan-American Highway was attacked. An explosive device, reportedly cylindrical in shape, landed on top of the bus, causing serious injuries and fatalities.
