On the 26th, it was learned from China Railway 14th Bureau Group that the New Village Tunnel, a key and difficult control project of the Shenzhen-Nanning High-speed Railway, has been successfully connected. This milestone signifies significant progress in the project construction, laying a solid foundation for the timely completion and opening of the entire line. The New Village Tunnel is located in Yun'an District, Yunfu City, Guangdong Province, with a total length of 2015 meters. It is a typical limestone karst tunnel. According to Dong Jialian, the project manager of China Railway 14th Bureau, the tunnel crosses multiple fault zones, with abundant groundwater in the area, hidden distribution of karst caves and cavities without a regular pattern, making the construction difficult and posing high safety risks. During the construction process, the construction team established a multi-dimensional advanced detection system, combining seismic wave detection, radar scanning, advanced drilling, and other technologies to identify the distribution of karst caves and characteristics of surrounding rocks. At the same time, real-time monitoring of rock deformation and settlement data was conducted to dynamically adjust the tunnel support strength and excavation methods, ensuring safe and efficient tunnel excavation. The Shenzhen-Nanning High-speed Railway will serve as a new high-speed rail link connecting the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area with Guangxi and other regions. Once the entire line is completed and opened to traffic, the travel time between Shenzhen and Nanning will be reduced from the current 3.5 hours or more to around 2.5 hours, further strengthening the radiating effect of the Greater Bay Area on the southwest region.
