During the 2026 Beijing Auto Show, Xiaopeng Group's Chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng, along with Xiaopeng Group's Vice Chairman and Co-President Gu Hongdi, spoke with the media. When asked about flying cars, He Xiaopeng stated that the research and development of flying cars is very difficult. Xiaopeng's flying car is currently in its seventh generation and has been in development for 13 years. The first product will only be released at the end of this year, and it is rare for a commercial company to spend 13 years developing a product before it is even launched. He said, "We look forward to selling this generation of flying cars to more countries around the world. In fact, we are currently in discussions in the Middle East, Indonesia, and Malaysia. We are also working on the second generation of flying cars, hoping that this generation will be suitable for overseas markets such as Europe, America, and China." He mentioned that future flying cars should not only be safe but also universal. Xiaopeng discovered that the supply chain for a car is 40 times more expensive than that of an airplane with equivalent quality components. It is very likely that in the next 10 to 20 years, not only will airplanes be safe, but ordinary people will also be able to afford them.
