Economic Daily evaluates the "AI artist pool": Can technological frenzy break through the bottom line of humanity?

Recently, a certain long video platform shared its innovative ideas in the AI era of film and television at a corporate conference, announcing that over a hundred artists have agreed to join its "AI artists database" and suggesting that live-action filming may become a "intangible cultural heritage" in the future. This statement has sparked considerable controversy online. AI technology is significantly reducing the production costs, shortening production cycles, and lowering barriers in the film and television industry. This is an objective trend that cannot be avoided with technology empowering the industry. The platform's original intention was to explore the direction of "technology empowering content", but why did it fail? The problem may lie in three unexpected factors. First, they did not expect people's attachment to "real people" to be so deep. Second, they did not expect a single sentence to touch the bottom line of professional dignity. Third, they did not expect that creating faces using AI would cause such outrage. We certainly appreciate the courage of companies embracing innovation, and we will not deny their exploratory direction just because of one failure. But this experience is worth reflecting upon: cultural products are not like ordinary commodities, they need to consider both economic and emotional aspects. Technology can advance rapidly, but it must never violate humanistic values. This serves as a warning not only for the platform involved, but for the entire entertainment industry and all market participants pursuing the benefits of AI.
