A gold shop in Guangzhou is suspected of using cheating scales controlled remotely. The market supervision department has opened an investigation.
According to the Guangzhou Market Supervision Bureau, certain unscrupulous businesses in Haizhu District use remote-controlled electronic scales to instantly cheat consumers who want to exchange their gold for cash. Recently, law enforcement officers from the Haizhu District Market Supervision Bureau found during an inspection of a gold recycling shop that the measuring instruments on the counter did not have a valid inspection seal attached, and there was a small, unfamiliar remote control on the counter. By further using standard weights for comparison, the officers discovered that pressing different buttons on the remote control caused the weighing results on the electronic scale to change, confirming that the shop was using an illegally modified "remote-controlled cheating scale." After testing by the Guangzhou Institute of Metrology, it was determined that the weighing instruments in question had been illegally equipped with a wireless receiver module, resulting in deceptive readings, and were classified as "unqualified" measuring instruments. Currently, the Haizhu District Market Supervision Bureau has formally filed a case against the gold recycling shop for suspected illegal use of forcibly modified and dismantled measuring instruments, in accordance with the relevant regulations of the Measures for the Implementation of the Law of the People's Republic of China on Metrology in Guangdong Province.
