Trump said it "could be very good for the G20 summit" if Putin were to attend.
President Donald Trump said he does not expect Vladimir Putin to attend the G20 summit later this year at his resort in Doral, Florida, but the Russian leader's participation could be beneficial. It was reported earlier on Thursday that Russia would be invited to both the ministerial meetings and the leaders' summit. Since 2019, Russia has not been present at the annual meeting in person due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent war in Ukraine. Trump said he was not aware of the invitation, but expressed doubts about Putin's attendance. "I have no idea about the invitation, but if he did receive one, I think he should talk to everyone," Trump said. "If he comes, it could be very beneficial."
