Qinzhou Industrial Park in Guangxi reported that controlled burning of ground torches is part of normal production conditions, and that information related to the fire spread on the internet is not true.
On April 24th, the Emergency Management Bureau of the Zhongma Qinzhou Industrial Park in Qinzhou, Guangxi reported that on April 23, 2026, at around 8pm, the ethylene cracking gas compressor at Guangxi Petrochemical Company in Qinzhou Port Economic Development Zone stopped due to a decrease in back pressure of the steam turbine, causing the ethylene cracking gas to be directed to the ground flare for combustion. The above operation strictly followed the safety production process, and the controlled combustion of the ground flare is considered a normal production condition, with no casualties. By 11pm on the same day, the ethylene cracking gas compressor had been restarted and production was gradually returning to normal. It is expected that the flare emissions will continue until the daytime of April 24th, and the safety risk is controllable. This incident is not considered a fire accident, and the information circulating on the internet regarding a fire is not true.
