The State Council Information Office held a press conference on the economic performance of agriculture and rural areas in the first quarter of 2026. Maierdan Mugaiti, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, stated that during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, the overall efficiency of agricultural scientific and technological innovation in China has been further improved, with the contribution rate of agricultural scientific and technological progress exceeding 64%, the coverage rate of high-quality crop varieties exceeding 96%, and the comprehensive mechanization rate of crop cultivation and harvesting reaching 76.7%, with major food crops basically achieving full mechanization. At the same time, the transformation of agricultural intelligence and digitization has been accelerated, and various intelligent equipment has been widely used in agricultural production. China's inventory of agricultural drones exceeds 300,000, ranking first in the world in terms of quantity.
