On April 20th, the first 10,000-ton new energy cargo ship "Dakang 18" in the Jinsha River Basin was successfully launched in the Xiangjiaba Reservoir area of Suijiang County, Zhaotong City, Yunnan Province. This is currently the largest tonnage ship in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, filling the gap in the transportation of 10,000-ton ships in the Jinsha River Basin. The ship started construction on May 25, 2025, with a total length of 110 meters, a beam of 18.8 meters, a depth of 8.5 meters, and a cargo capacity of 12,000 tons. The ship is a methanol new energy ship, with fuel costs 20% lower than traditional diesel ships, effectively reducing carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide emissions. With the optimization of the ship's length, the carrying capacity has doubled, providing core advantages of large loading capacity, high navigation efficiency, and low operating costs, better meeting the freight transportation needs in the Jinsha River Basin.
