The first intermediate People's Court of Shanghai sentenced the defendant Zhao Yudie for abuse and intentional harm in the first instance.

On April 21 at 10:00, the Shanghai First Intermediate People's Court publicly sentenced the defendant Zhao Yudie, accused by the Shanghai People's Procuratorate First Branch, of the crimes of abuse and intentional injury: the defendant Zhao Yudie was sentenced to two years in prison for abuse; and sentenced to death with a two-year reprieve for intentional injury, deprived of political rights for life, and the death penalty will be carried out after the two-year reprieve with deprivation of political rights for life. The court found in the trial: from July to August 23, 2024, the defendant Zhao Yudie frequently abused the victim Huang using methods such as beating his back, buttocks, legs, and biting his legs during the period when living together with her boyfriend Huang and Huang's son Huang together. On the evening of August 24 of the same year, Zhao Yudie was in an open park in Pudong New Area of Shanghai, due to dissatisfaction with Huang's running around, she repeatedly slapped Huang's face with her hand, beat her with a tree branch, kicked her body with her feet, and threw Huang down the slope from the riverbank to the bank, causing Huang to fall to the ground sideways and hit her head on the ground. At around 8 p.m. that day, Huang fainted at home, and Zhao Yudie took her to the hospital for rescue. Huang died on September 4 of the same year due to ineffective rescue. The victim Huang suffered blunt force head injury resulting in central nervous system dysfunction and death; at the time of medical consultation on the evening of August 24, Huang's skin and soft tissues on multiple parts of the body were mildly injured, with the back reaching Level One, and the face and chest reaching minor injury, and the bite wound on the left calf causing skin damage reaching minor injury. On August 29, 2024, the public security organs arrested Zhao Yudie at her temporary residence. Zhao Yudie confessed to the main criminal facts truthfully after being apprehended. The court believes that the defendant Zhao Yudie severely mistreated the three-year-old family member Huang, and her actions constituted the crime of abuse; the defendant Zhao Yudie intentionally harmed Huang to death, and her actions constituted the crime of intentional injury. According to the facts, nature, circumstances, and social harm of the crimes committed by the defendant Zhao Yudie, the court made the above judgment according to law.
