Director of the National Economic Council, Kevin Hassett, said in an interview with CNBC that the confirmation hearing for Kevin Warsh's nomination will show people just how strong of a candidate he is. At the time of Hassett's statement, the Department of Justice was investigating current Chairman Powell for his testimony last summer regarding the renovation project of the Fed's office building. Senator Tom Tillis has vowed to not support any nominee until this investigation is concluded. Hassett said, "When Warsh serves as Chairman of the Federal Reserve, anyone who wants to know about the overspending and everything else that has happened in the past few years will certainly be able to find out, because we will have a Federal Reserve Chairman that people trust."
