Three Gorges Group has started construction of the first pumped storage power station in Henan Province.

According to China Electric Power News, on April 20th, the underground excavation of the power plant at the Henan Gongyi Housi River Pumped Storage Power Station, the first pumped storage power station in Henan Province invested and constructed by Three Gorges Group, officially started. This marks the comprehensive commencement of the main engineering construction of the project. The Housi River Pumped Storage Power Station, with a planned total installed capacity of 1.2 million kilowatts, will have four reversible pump-turbine generators with a single unit capacity of 300,000 kilowatts. According to the plan, the power station is expected to start the first unit to generate electricity in June 2030, and achieve full capacity and grid-connected operation in March 2031.
