This round of strong sand and dust weather covers more than 10 provinces, and the arrival of sand and dust in the Sichuan Basin is not rare.
In these two days, influenced by a Mongolian cyclone, strong dust weather has appeared in the northern regions of our country, affecting more than 10 provinces. According to comprehensive assessment of satellite images and ground monitoring, this dust mainly originated from the southern part of Mongolia and the southern part of Xinjiang and western Inner Mongolia in our country. Gu Hai-lin, chief forecaster of the China Meteorological Administration, said that the dust affects Sichuan in a unique way: dust originating from the southern part of Mongolia and western Inner Mongolia, under the guidance of cold air, crosses the Qinling Mountains and enters the Sichuan Basin through Ningxia, Shaanxi, Gansu, and other areas. Therefore, if the path of cold air shifts westward, coupled with suitable dust sources, dust weather in Sichuan is also a common weather phenomenon, not rare.
