Hong Kong will allow virtual asset trading platforms to conduct tokenized fund trading.
The Executive Director of the Intermediaries Division of the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission, Edmond Yeung Chi Hang, said at the Web3 Festival on Monday that Hong Kong plans to allow licensed virtual asset trading platforms to conduct tokenized fund trading. Yeung said that allowing licensed virtual asset trading platforms to offer tokenized funds will not only provide tokenized funds, but also enable secondary market trading. According to the executive director, the agency will "steadily advance" in introducing tokenized money market fund trading, outlining plans for the next 12 months. He stated, "If successful, we will gradually expand it to all recognized authorized funds."
