Starting tomorrow, the first cross-city commuter bus between Beijing and Tianjin will be operational.
Reporters learned from the Beijing Municipal Transportation Commission and the Tianjin Municipal Transportation Commission that, with the joint efforts of the transportation departments and local governments of the two cities, the first inter-city commuting bus route between Beijing and Tianjin will officially start operation on April 20, 2026. The route starts from Wuqing District in Tianjin and ends at Ciqu Subway Station in Tongzhou District of Beijing, with 16 stops along the way, operating all day on weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
On weekdays, there will be 30 round trips, on weekends and holidays there will be 18 round trips, with a one-way operation time of about 60 minutes, implementing a single fare system. Active-duty military personnel, disabled retired military personnel, blind people, retired disabled police officers, and other groups can ride for free with valid documents. The terminal of the route is connected to Ciqu Station, where passengers can easily transfer to Line 17 and Yizhuang Line, seamlessly connecting with the Beijing urban rail transit network, providing convenient and efficient travel options for cross-regional commuters.
In order to serve the residents of Wuqing District in Tianjin to quickly commute to Beijing, the Beijing Municipal Transportation Commission, drawing on the experience of operating bus routes from Dachang and Gu'an to Beijing, cooperated with relevant departments of Tianjin, Wuqing District, and Tongzhou District to conduct multiple rounds of on-site surveys and route inspections, with the goal of meeting commuting needs and providing efficient and convenient services. The relevant person in charge of the Municipal Transportation Commission stated that this measure improves the efficiency of commuting between Beijing and Tianjin, promotes the efficient flow of people and elements in the Tongwu Corridor region, and plays an important role in deepening the "one-hour" commuting circle of the capital and writing the "double city story" of Beijing and Tianjin. This commuting bus route complements the existing customized fast bus service, creating a multi-level and diversified travel service system for cross-regional commuters.
