Sanhe Duobeima Cableway Transport System Co., Ltd. recalls 79 passenger cable cars.
Sanhe Duobeimaya Transportation System Co., Ltd. recently reported the recall plan to the General Administration of Market Supervision in accordance with the "Special Equipment Recall Management Rules." Starting from today, the company will recall a total of 79 passenger ropeways that were manufactured using the DT series gripper tensioner between January 1, 1997 and December 31, 2023.
Passenger ropeways within the scope of this recall may have a safety hazard caused by the gripper tensioner hitting the catch rope when the empty carriage runs near the support due to design reasons, resulting in an inward deviation exceeding the standard regulation of 0.34 rad. In extreme cases, the gripper tensioner may twist and fall off, posing a safety risk. Sanhe Duobeimaya Transportation System Co., Ltd. will upgrade the DT series gripper tensioner by installing a deflector in the forward direction to eliminate the safety hazard.
As of April 18th, the deflector has been issued for 60 of the passenger ropeways involved in this recall, and all modifications will be completed by May 1st. The remaining 19 ski resort passenger ropeways have been shut down and will be modified before they are put back into operation.
