On April 17, Zhang Li, member of the Party Committee and Deputy General Manager of China Power Engineering Consulting Group Co., Ltd., stated at the 2026 Spring Nuclear Energy Sustainable Development Forum that during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, the proportion of non-fossil energy in China's electricity generation will exceed 50% for the first time, officially entering the era where clean electricity is the mainstay. It is expected that by 2030, the total electricity consumption of the whole society will exceed 13 trillion kilowatt-hours, with the largest electricity load exceeding 2 billion kilowatts; the installed capacity of wind power and photovoltaics will reach around 3 billion kilowatts, and it is expected that the installed capacity of nuclear power in operation will reach 1.1 billion kilowatts, close to doubling from 2025. At the same time, the power system is transitioning from a "synchronous machine" system to a "virtual synchronous machine" system, and the high proportion of power electronics access will reshape system stability mechanisms.
