The United States has expressed plans to help the Philippines establish an unprecedented industrial center to increase the production of inputs crucial to the American supply chain. According to a statement from the US State Department on Thursday, this 4,000-acre center is intended to be "a platform specifically tailored for joint manufacturing" and "an investment acceleration center, where specific industrial activities will be determined by market demand." The project is dubbed as an "economic security zone" and will be located within the Luzon Economic Corridor. The Luzon Economic Corridor is a flagship economic project supported by the United States and Japan on the main island of the Philippines.
